SULHAMSTEAD & UFTON NERVET C.E (AIDED) PRIMARY SCHOOL

Welcome to Sulhamstead and Ufton Nervet School

(known locally as ‘SUN School’)

There has been a school at Ufton Nervet since 1862. The present school – a Church of England Aided Primary School – was extended in 1963 when the school at Sulhamstead was closed. Since then the school has grown in numbers and facilities and we now have 105 children on roll.

The school is set in beautiful countryside, close to woodlands, farms and canals in an area with a most varied and interesting history. We have a large site with a playing field, hard surface areas, adventure playground equipment and a quiet garden. Our Early Years class has its own outdoor learning and play area.

What does our Church Aided Status mean?

Originally, most church schools were formed as Trusts in the nineteenth century, before the introduction of free, state education. Nowadays our Church Aided status means that we are different from a local authority school in some legal aspects, such as in our Articles of Government, worship and religious education, admissions, building maintenance and employment of staff.
