Music at S.U.N

At S.U.N, our music curriculum ensures students sing, listen, play, perform and evaluate. This is embedded in classroom activities as well as weekly singing assemblies, various concerts and performances, and the learning of instruments. The elements of music are taught in classroom lessons so that children are able to use the language of music to discuss it, and understand how it is made, played, appreciated and analysed.

Pupils at S.U.N have the opportunity to work with our music partners, Berkshire Maestros to learn an instrument; currently we have children learning to play the piano, guitar and violin.

What our pupils say...

"I love the effect that music has when I listen to it; it makes me feel calm." MP

"When we keep going and keep learning, we get better at understanding music." MP

"I love the xylophone because I get to play it" MD

"I enjoy music lessons in school because we play instruments properly."IL

"I like singing - everyone sounds so different." SC

"I love singing and being challenged." MH

"Music makes me feel lots of different emotions." EK
