Homework at S.U.N
Homework is an important link in learning between school and home and gives our children the opportunity to consolidate their learning from school, delve deeper intp areas of inerest, research as prior learning to enable engagement in school learning and to help parents get a clearer picture of what their children are learning in school.
Parents, staff and children have been integral to help us create a homework strategy that suits the new ways of working that we are all now becoming accustomed to, reduce our paper usage, and to prepare our older learners for the expectations of secondary school to ensure they are ready for the transition.
At Sulhamstead and Ufton Nervet CE Primary School, the expectation is that homework be spread across the week, rather than being attempted in one sitting, as most repetition of learning works best in daily short bursts.
Home work will be set on a Friday and should be completed by the following Thursday.

In addition to these tasks, each class will have half termly collaboration homework choices which are optional but designed to be completed collaboratively with parents/siblings/grandparents etc to encourage self-led learning projects. You can choose as many or as few of these as you like and your endeavours will be shared in class. |
There may be times when one homework task may be swapped for another which may meet the needs of children at specific times, eg cursive handwriting practice to iron out a specific join, or research to coincide with a specific topic in class.
We thank you for your support with your child’s home learning
